[Coaching Pupils in Schools] Spanish Teacher Coaches Disengaged Pupil from GCSE “U” to grade “B”

This year I took over a Year 11 group that I didn’t teach for half of Year 10. And I had a pupil who was completely disapplied with learning Spanish. He was on a “U” And after a lot of talk to his parents with the pupil I was getting nowhere. He was producing no work. He was refusing to even put pen to paper. So I had to do some coaching with him and basically what we’ve done was very short sessions. And instead of me suggesting him & telling him what to do I let him come up with his own solution and how he would tackle the problem. And and it has taken many weeks but it was only quick coaching following the 12-Step programme. And by the end of this month I have sent 2 pieces of coursework that were worth a “B” grade And I think for him to have achieved that is an amazing achievement But it was all the work that he put in himself. And all the solutions he found within himself – That he applied himself (to that) – Made a BIG difference! www.coachinginschools.com
